SENINTER is not just a trip, it is a legacy

Europe is more than a continent, it is an alive territory, plenty of people, nature, history... we share a significant part of our past and future, but still there is so much to discover ... It is time for you to share your legacy, our legacy. There would be no better travel mate than your grandchild, the most important person in your life! And no better hosts than locals willing to share a life changing experience with you.

SENINTER is based on the belief that travelling is a great occasion to create emotional ties with our travel mates, and with the hosting cultures and territories. The exchange between generations and countries within the SENINTER model reinforces the sense of European citizenship, creating emotional links between tourists and destinations,  respassing visible and invisible borders. SENINTER goes for innovative elements beyond the tourist experience, creating cultural consciousness while reinforcing intergenerational ties, highlighting the value of the territory and the local communities visited.

But, what is SENINTER?

It is a reaction to the main problems of the tourism industry: saturated destinations, the need to deseasonalize the offer; and also a reaction to the most negative effects of tourism: loss of cultural identity, overuse of resources, destruction of the environment, benefits not perceived by the local population, and many more.

This led to the creation of SENINTER, a proposal for a profound change in the current tourism model, turning negative effects into positive ones. With three very interesting ingredients: grandchildren, grandparents and local population, and the background of the European Union and its cultures.

SENINTER proposes the creation of a slow and sustainable tourism product, adapted to senior citizens who travel across Europe with their grandchildren during medium and low seasons.

Benefits for everyone

SENINTER seeks to fight against the negative effects of tourism, creating a new framework of accessibility, universal tourism and multiculturalism. A framework where benefits are shared. But, among whom?

Users and relatives: grandparents and grandchildren embark on a journey that will change their lives. After so many years of hard work, it is time to enjoy themselves and share their legacy with the most important people in their lives: their grandchildren!

Local Community: other grandparents and grandchildren of the destination country will act as hosts, empowering the community thanks to the active role they will play and establishing a lasting emotional bond.

Culture and Environment: reducing tourism saturation and practicing sensitive tourism based on a profound knowledge of the land and not on fast consumption, giving nature a respite while reinforcing the value of the land, raising cultural awareness.

Local economy: An opportunity for small companies, associations and administrations looking to reposition in tourism thanks to the reproducibility of the model.

All of this new approach will be implemented in a pilot trip planned for March 2017, when Slovenian grandparents and grandchildren will travel to Rimini - Emilia Romagna (Italy), where other Italian grandparents and grandchildren will welcome them and show them the most authentic elements of their region.

We are certain that this is only the beginning of a great change, and will be happy to provide you with further information.
