On the 14th of December we had the pleasure to participate in the United Nations Event: How can the international recognition of Social And Solidarity Economy help achieve the SDGs through social & inclusive innovation?

Diesis Network Executive President, Gianluca Pastorelli highlighted Diesis’ contribution to the SDGs:

“We work on the interconnection between SSE and the SDGs together with our 55 members from 28 countries gathering 90.000+ SSEOs and 1,2 Million jobs. Their initiatives exemplify concrete actions to realise the SDGs. In addition, Diesis strives to realise the core of all SDGs, but we would like to focus especially on 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝟏𝟕 – 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, specifically related to multi-stakeholder collaboration. We find this goal very relevant because reality is that all of the goals necessarily require the participation and meaningful collaboration of all sectors of society. That is why our team has made a measurable impact over the past 25 years as a passionate advocate for sustainable development. And so, with our campaign since 2021 we wanted to engage and inspire the entire network to showcase their work and bring local organisations involved.

We create a space for the members of our community to cooperate together and with stakeholders from the public sector, international, national and local authorities, trade unions and other labour market actors, academia, education and training, through common initiatives and peer learning realising the concrete SDGs within the international spectrum as a collective to maximise the impact. At the same time the community members – being support structures, platforms, federations and networks operating at the local or national level, are significantly involved in activities that on their own realise other SDGs.

This is concrete contribution to a new world where a closer and better interconnection between civil society and business and public sector will hopefully lead to a more sustainable, inclusive way of life.”
