ALBANIA
Partners Albania for Change and Development is an independent Albanian NGO established in 2001, working to support civil society and facilitate inter-sector cooperation in order to strengthen democratic institutions and advances economic development. Partners Albania works for the development of social entrepreneurship and social enterprises (SEs) through research to better understanding features and models of SEs along with their development challenges, legal framework development, and by building cooperation platforms among key stakeholders in and outside Albania. These instruments are in function of advocacy efforts for an enabling institutional and financial environment for SEs. In addition, as a meso-level organisation Partners Albania supports the creation of new social enterprises, particularly those created by and for women and youth, as a significant factor for the socio-economic advancement of the country.
Partners Albania is a member of Partners Network, a partnership of 19 independent, local organisations in Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle-East working for peaceful and democratic change. It is also a member of several European and regional networks.
Partners Albania has organised its interventions into five key programmatic areas:
- Enabling Environment and Sustainable Development of CSOs;
- Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
- Philanthropic activity and support infrastructure
- Transparent and accountable participatory governance
Partners Albania have been part of several initiatives, researching social enterprises and social entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans covering issues of sector mapping, understanding its challenges and opportunities in local markets, existing funding and institutional support, potential for growth and the role of state and non-state actors in SE development.
Its latest contribution to the advancement of entrepreneurship in Western Balkans is DUA Partner Invest, a collaborative platform bringing together start-ups, consultants and investors.
