LATVIA

The Social Entrepreneurship Association of Latvia (SEAL) is a member organisation that promotes the development of social entrepreneurship in Latvia. It was founded in 2015 and has more than 120 members, including social enterprises, social entrepreneurship support organisations, social entrepreneurship ecosystem players and interested individuals. SEAL is the biggest national level organisation regarding social entrepreneurship in Latvia, serving both as an advocacy body and knowledge sharing platform about social entrepreneurship related topics.

Main activities:

  • Advocacy on a local, regional and national Ievel: to focus on social entrepreneurship opportunities at the Latvian level, the SEAL works with other regional and national decision-makers and policy-makers to create a supportive environment for social entrepreneurship in Latvia. Their cooperation network includes municipalities, entrepreneurship support organisations, local, regional and national stakeholders.
  • Member capacity building, experience and knowledge sharing activities: to provide joint activities to their members to help them achieve their goals, as well as up-to-date information on finance and cooperation opportunities, and consultation support.
  • Promoting social entrepreneurship in wider society: through their network of social entrepreneurship ambassadors in Latvia and various activities (conferences, trainings, …), the SEAL informs the wider community about social entrepreneurship. Moreover, every year they organise the Social Entrepreneurship Forum and maintain the largest source of information in the Latvian language about social entrepreneurship (www.socialauznemejdarbiba.lv).
