The Wheel is Ireland’s national association of community and voluntary organisations, charities, and social enterprises. Established in 1999, the organisation serves as a support and representative body for its 2,500+ members, working to strengthen the capacity and impact of Ireland’s nonprofit sector. The Wheel provides expert advice, training, advocacy, and resources tailored to the needs of the community sector. The Wheel plays a vital role in fostering collaboration, building capacity, and representing the interests of civil society organisations at the national and European levels.

Objectives:

  • Strengthening Leadership and Governance:
    Equip Ireland’s nonprofit organisations with the knowledge, skills, and tools to enhance leadership, governance, and operational capacity across the sector.
  • Advancing Policy and Advocacy:
    Champion the interests of the community, voluntary, and nonprofit sector by advocating for supportive public policies, sustainable funding models, and meaningful regulatory frameworks.
  • Empowering Sustainable and Inclusive Communities:
    Support nonprofits to contribute effectively to national and global priorities, including climate action, social inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Promoting Digital and Technological Innovation:
    Help organisations embrace digital transformation and adopt new technologies to improve their resilience, efficiency, and impact.
  • Building a Thriving Membership Network:
